Making the rounds this week with a mix from the talented, Tampa-based DJ, karl jaims. Formulated while a storm was just opening up, and sunlight began to peak through, the virtuoso was reminded of his time in Northern Italy. As a result, the set incorporates a balanced supply of heady italo-themed tracks, and temperamental, underlit rhythms.
DJing in the Florida underground since 2007, karl jaims cut his teeth in the DIY scene when throwing a party in the woods, behind an abandoned suburb with just a moving truck and a generator - calling it a ‘Baby Shower’. This first “shower” being cut short after police arrived with a helicopter.
The DJ’s musical preference reflecting their immediate environments gleams through with a set like this, and we’re looking forward to what the rest of 2018 has in store for him.
